Vantec Expands NexStar Hard Drive Dock Adding Wi-Fi
The New NexStar Wi-Fi Hard Drive Dock Allows Simultaneous Wi-Fi Access to Data Stored in the Hard Drive Creating a Simple Network for Fire-Sharing
TAIPEI, Taiwan – December 14, 2012 – Vantec Thermal Technologies-a worldwide leader specializing in computer accessories, storage and mobile solutions-announces the new addition to the Hard Drive Dock lineup, the NexStar® WiFi Hard Drive Dock. The new model, NexStar WiFi, allows users to connect wirelessly to the data stored in the user’s hard drive over the Hard Drive Dock’s Wi-Fi signal. This allows anyone with Wi-Fi capable devices to connect to the NexStar WiFi. In addition, Vantec has released Apps ready on the Apple® App StoreSM and Google Play Store to work with the new NexStar WiFi.
With the increasing usage of mobile smart devices in our daily lives, data capacity becomes an issue and to process file-sharing without an internet-ready network can also become an inconvenience. To solve this issue, Vantec has provided the solution by adding the NexStar WiFi to the mix and creating a centralized hub for all types of data and file sharing. In addition, PC computer and Mac can also share files wirelessly over the SMB protocol. The NexStar WiFi is also UPnP capable so media players and media centers can easily browse files when they are connected to the same Wi-Fi network from the NexStar.
The NexStar WiFi App is currently available on the App Store and Google Play Store and is free to download. Some additional features have been added to the NexStar WiFi App for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch such as Airplay support allowing data to be streamed to any devices supporting Airplay.
The Hard Drive Dock product line started in 2008 and Vantec has since then introduced many products to choose from including models featuring various external interfaces and also the dual bay Hard Drive Dock models. The NexStar WiFi includes a USB 3.0 external interface to work with the current USB 3.0 standard for faster file transfer.
The NexStar WiFi Hard Drive Dock will be available on the market this December. For additional product information and full technical specifications, please visit www.vantecusa.com
